This applet demonstrates the relationships between the fundamental camera controls and the effects they have on the resulting picture. Aperture, lens focal length, distance to subject, and film format interact to create a field of view, magnification, and depth of field.

Black portions of the wireframe lie within the depth of field; the more gray the portion is, the more out of focus it is.
